The MLC stated simply is a "school on wheels". Our trucks navigate even the roughest, bumpiest roads to reach the most isolated students. While on site, children are able to check out books with their own library cards and use computers to participate in the world-renowned "Imagine Learning" literacy/ESL program.
Aren't there enough Organizations in Haiti
The Foundation is aware that there are already many organizations and individuals in place with a variety of programs in P-au-P, but we believe that this project is unique and will be far reaching in its benefits and scope for the disadvantaged children residing in orphanages in Port-au-Prince.
What will the MLC provide?
Library - We just passed our 1,000th book mark!
Imagine Learning - world-renowned "Imagine Learning" literacy/ESL program
Supplemental Worksheets - Many, many students never get to practice their math, read notes or answer questions about their newly required knowledge on paper!
Spelling Bee - The benefits of spelling bees extend beyond language: Since children are required to spell words while on stage, kids also develop self-confidence, communication and public speaking skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
Reading Club - Our MLC participants will have the opportunity to participate in a reading program that will encourage: Goal setting for reading a certain number of books, reading outloud, and comprehension.
Mentoring - The students will become the teachers and educators. This phase is perhaps the most important for the student because they will be expected to internalize their new learned knowledge and learn to be autonomous in its practice.
Evaluation - Evaluations will be conducted every six (6) months for a period of three(3) years. The evaluation period consists of follow-up assessments and behavior documentation.
